LED Dice

LED DICE

This simple dice project is based on CMOS decade counter clocked by oscillator formed IC 555. IC1 NE 555 is a free running oscillator wired as a stable multivibrator. The frequency of the oscillator pin 3 of IC1 is connected through P.B.1 push button to clock input pin 14 of the decade counter IC2 CD 4017 each of the count state from 0 to 9 are brought out to separate pins. For every input pulse from IC1, the output of the IC2 which is high shifts to next pin in sequence. By connecting the seventh output count pin 5 back to reset input pin 15, the counter will reset after every sixth count. When P.B. is release the clock input to pin 14 will stop leaving only one LED on out of six. As IC2 cycles same interval for all the outputs, the probability of being on when P.B. is released is equal for each LED. The outputs one to six of IC2 are connected to anode of LEDs 1 to 6 through current limiting resistor R4 to R9.
