Magnetic Lock

Magnetic lock is a very useful security device which operates by magnet only. Here two reed switches are used to open and close the lock. You can hide the reed switches at two different places. IC1 is CD 4093, quad 2 input NAND gates. Gate N1, N2 forms R-S latch. When magnet is brought near reed switch 1, the contacts of the switch will be closed and pin1 of N1 will go to logic 0 to set the latch. Pin 3 will be high to switch on transistor T1. Transistor T1, T2 BC 547 are in emitter follower mode to drive the relay. When magnet is brought near reed switch 2, the contacts of the switch will be closed and pin6 of NAND gate N2 will go to logic 0 to reset the latch. So by bringing the magnet near the hidden reed switches you can open and close the magnetic plunger operated lock.
